Annual review 2007/08
Recovery and social inclusion
Quality services for all
Making a difference
A core aim for Rethink is to support the recovery of people experiencing severe mental illness by providing hope and empowerment through effective mental health services. We provide a wide range of mental health services including advocacy, carers support, community support, crisis accommodation, employment and training, helplines, nursing and residential care. We also provide dedicated services to black and ethnic minority communities. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to solve problems related to mental health.
Making it happen
- We provided 340 services across the country.
- More than 4,000 people used our services each day.
- Our helplines and National Advice Service received almost 50,000 emails and phone calls.
- We launched almost 30 new services.
- We kept being innovative – some of this year’s new approaches include our new Montgomery House in Salisbury - an innovative new supported housing project for veterans experiencing mental health problems.
- We developed partnership projects with a range of other organisations.
Making an impact
With over 100 housing services, this remains our largest service type. Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) audits show that our housing services are rated as good or excellent by the main funder, Supporting People. The results reflect the positive development of our services.
Moving forward
We’ll continue to offer high quality services focusing on local needs using our expertise as a national and broad service provider. To further strengthen our local feel, we’ll employ two new directors of services dividing this responsibility in the Southern and Northern region.
We’ll continue to develop partnerships with other organisations and share different experiences to ensure that people with mental illness are offered high quality services.
