Annual review 2007/08
Our future
Growing together
Making a difference
Rethink is a people organisation. Attracting, holding on to and developing the best possible workforce is crucial to the work we do.
Making it happen
There have been two major initiatives in 2007/08:
- The introduction of a knowledge and skills framework (KSF) which for the first time establishes the competencies required for every post.
- A Training & Development Taskforce led to the creation of a new Workforce Development Team tasked with the challenge of moving Rethink towards adopting a learning culture.
Making an impact
All staff are now working towards relevant competence in key areas which directly impacts upon Rethink’s core activities. These include:
- Communication
- Personal development
- Service improvement
- Quality
- Promotion of wellbeing
- Innovation
- People management
- Public relations
- Progress has been recorded in staff appraisals, and backed up by Personal Development Plans.
- We’ve also seen a significant increase in funding for Workforce Development and greater autonomy for departments and regions to direct investment to priority areas.
Moving forward
KSF is still being embedded and will be managed through supervision and appraisal this year, before we move to linking competence directly with pay.
New Workforce Development Managers are being appointed who will support the creation of Workforce Development plans to meet local, regional, and national requirements.
Moving you forward
If you are a Rethink employee you need to assess the support you require to achieve competence in all aspects of your post. This is to ensure we make a positive impact on the lives of our beneficiaries. Please visit: www.rethink.org/inthink.
